Back to college

Schools in the south get out early for Christmas break.  My daughter was home by December 8th.  Unfortunately, that means that they have to go back earlier also.  Classes start tomorrow, so she left yesterday to head back down to NC.

Hopefully, she will be able to come home for a few days for spring break!

I have three generations that come to one of my classes each week.

Happy 75th!

My mother-in-law's birthday was actually in November, but she wanted all her grandchildren to attend the party, so it was held during the Christmas vacation so all of the college students would be home!

It was a really nice time and she was happy to spend time with family and friends!!

Christmas Morning

We started a new tradition last year!  On Christmas morning, my kids come over and we have a nice leisurely breakfast (after sleeping in!) and we open up our gifts.  We don't have little ones anymore, so the excitement of children is not there, but spending time with all three of my kids (and a fiance and a girlfriend) is really, really great!

And as you can see, there are just as many gifts!  Presents are opened in the dining room and breakfast is in the kitchen!  

Christmas Night

This year we had an ugly sweater contest and a sampling of appetizers and desserts.  We really had fun as this year we also had a Yankee Gift Swap.

Hubby and I sharing a glass of wine on New Year's Eve.  He had to work on January 1st, so we were in bed by 10:30 - oh well!!
