The masons

Half of the chimney is down.  They have everything set to begin filling in the hollow sections of the fireplace and then building it back up.  What a procedure!!!  However, they are neat, they are organized and they are nice.......

Sunday Afternoon

It was a beautiful day today.  Not a lot of sun, but no rain (yet) and warm.  We let the chickens out, like we do everyday, but today, they wanted to join us.  As we sat down for Sunday dinner in the kitchen, they came to see what we were up to.  This was the first time they came onto the patio.  The neighborhood cats (all feral) are not afraid of the chickens and the chickens are not afraid of them.  They ate out of the same bowl today(although not at the same time).  Dominic was almost able to get the feral grey cat to come to him.

This week

I've been to busy to post again....So, this week

  • I taught Zumba four times
  • Lauren and I planned out our songs for out next session of Zumba
  • I will be teaching another class starting in June so I got that settled.
  • My dad has started radiation treatment
  • Garden looks great!
  • They have begun the chimney work......part of it needs to be taken down and filled (it is hollow??) and it is a fire hazard....always something.  And then the masons are going to build it back up.  I'll try to get some pictures of this!
  • First graduation party this weekend (college) for a good friend's son
  • Game/Card night at my dad's tonight
  • Time to clean the house......

The new barn/shed

I just wanted to post pictures of the new addition.  It is yellow and green and matches the house.....two feet bigger than the one we lost in the freak storm in January, so everything should fit nicely come wintertime.

We filled it up in about an hour!!!!!

CSA and local chickens.

So.....I have paid for 1/2 of my CSA already!!!  It starts the first week of June - I'm so excited for it this year!  I have found a new farm and my dad and I went to visit on Saturday.  Guess what I bought at my new farm???  Two meat chickens....so guess what I had for dinner yesterday?  Yup, my first taste of meat in a long time.  It was so very good.  This farmer butchers every Friday and you can pick up your meat chickens on Saturdays.

So, my husband asked "How much was the chicken?" (I bought two by the way).  But I wouldn't tell him. They were a little pricey.  But I know where these beautiful birds pecked the ground, I know how they were fed and I know that I would have treated them the same way, so it is all good.  Yes, I'm still a vegetarian, with a little bit of "local" chicken on the side.....

Yard work

I got a lot done this weekend - the weather was gorgeous.  Lettuce is in the ground, onions and garlic are in (some kind of special stuff my dad gave me).  I have planted thyme and rosemary.  Tomato plants are in.  Peas are about 1 foot tall already!

I am turning over a new section (it is small) of the garden and I'm putting in some herbs this year.  So far, so good.

Here are pictures of my rhodendrem (sp).  It is beautiful again this year.

I learned something new

So, I went to the doctors with my dad.

I now know what a CT scan, I know what a PET Scan is.  I have talked to an oncologist.  I have learned big words (can't say them or spell them, but I know what they mean).  I know what chemo is, I know what radiation is....I know what lymph nodes are.....I know what soft tissue means (and it isn't Puffs Plus!)  ....I'm full of knowledge....I know what heprin is...I know what cumidin (sp) is....I know what A fib means...I'm one smart lady......

And I was much better off being UNlearned!

Cancer is the new "C" word.

Graduation

My son graduated from Uconn yesterday.  What a beautiful time it was!  It only lasted two hours and there were about 800 people in this graduation (there were about 10 other graduations also).

Mother's Day was wonderful as I got to see my mom, all my kids, both my mother-in-laws (funny-huh) and my nonni!!!!!!

I am truly blessed.
