I taught my last CCD class Sunday morning before Mass. It was bittersweet. I have been teaching fourth graders for many years, but I now need to devote some time to my family and my life. They were a great group of kids and hopefully, they now know about their bibles. (That is their fourth grade requirement!). Hopefully, they know the difference between Old and New Testament and what each section represents, how to find passages, etc. I may go back to teaching again in the future, but for now, Cathechism is officially over for me.
Definitely bittersweet!

CCD Today
Lent starts this week. I have to prepare the kids in my CCD class for that! It is sad, but they are in fourth grade and some of them don't realize that Lent comes before Easter. Then, we need to discuss the subject of prayer...how to pray and types of prayer.
Going to throw in a little of St. Joseph's Day too (March 19th). Most Italians know what they are talking about when it comes to FAITH, FAMILY, FATHERS and FOOD!

CCD Lesson
Subject for the day: Jesus' work of Healing, Anointing of the Sick and parts of Luke Chapter 8.
I figure they are all appropriate subject matters for right here, right now! Healing, help and the miracles of Jesus. It is very difficult to explain the Anointing of the Sick to 9 year olds......But they seem to get the fact that Jesus can do anything including raising a 12 year old girl from the dead. I hope something I teach them sticks with them at each class but it is hard to tell!!!

CCD Service Project
I have decided (with the help of my sister in law) on the service project for our CCD class.
We wil be collecting for our troops over seas. The name of the group is give2thetroops.org and I have given the kids/parents a list of things that are needed. We will be collecting until December 5th and then a local police dept. is going to send all our donations to our troops.
Class this weekend is going to focus on the parts of the Mass, what to do at mass, how to act/behave at mass (at least for a 4th grader!) and also two chapters from our book.....
