It's Saturday, I am cooking dinner and reading a few blogs and I realized that I haven't blogged since Tuesday. Life got in the way this week...well, actually, it was Zumba and a 25th wedding anniversary and a meeting at my daughter's school and meeting my wonderful friends for dinner/drinks and so on and so on.
I have some pictures to blog about and will get the time once the new Zumba session starts...when we do a new session of seven new songs, I practice non stop for at least a week and I'm in the midst of it!
I'll be back....

One door closes....
...and another opens!
I have been teaching Zumba for well over a year now at a facility (one mile from home) at a condo complex, two times per week. Because there is no handicapped entrance at this facility, I have been told I can no longer teach there and they kindly gave me three weeks to finish up. I am still at my other facility twice a week.
I never thought I would be effected by the ADA, and yet, there it is. I was sad (upset), but now I realize that I have two evenings each week to start running again. I have signed up for the New Haven Road Race (my Labor Day tradition for about nine years now) and maybe I can get a good time posted if I can run for the next month!
So I have lost two classes of Zumba, but took on one more Zumba session at my regular facility and now I can start running too! It is a win-win-win situation!
(I'm still really sad, though)....I'll miss all the ladies (friends) that I have come to know! :(

A blog link
I am linking to one of the blogs that I read everyday.
Click on the link below to see my deoderant recipe from Abbi in Minnesota.
http://proverbs31living.blogspot.com/2011/04/making-my-own-deodorant.html
As many of you know, I make my own deodorant and it works like a charm. I've been doing this for about 1-1/2 years now and I recommend it wholeheartedly! It works just as well (if not better) as over the counter deodorants/antiperspirants with NO aluminum, nothing artificial, nothing clogging your pores.
I teach Zumba four times a week and I can vouch for it!

Saturday
We cancelled Zumba because the weathermen said it was going to be bad weather (wintry mix with ice)....Guess what, the weather was fine...we could have had class....And Supposedly, today is National Weatherman Day!! They SHOULD NOT have their own day! They SHOULD NOT.....
Anyway, I got to babysit one of the trips because my sister needed to do some errands. I was supposed to go get raffle prizes for SHA, but that got cancelled too!
So, I cooked, cleaned and organized. The spice cabinet is very happy today!
Tonight, a party for my very good friend.....Happy Birthday, you know who you are and I know you hate this time of year........But enjoy it anyway! Edited to add.....I hope you had a nice pause....LOL...

Zumba
I can honestly say that Zumba is tiring me out. I have decided that I am doing too much. In three weeks, I am taking it down to teaching three times a week (instead of 4). We will see how I feel after the holidays and I may have to take it down to twice a week.
I really want to run again. I have no time, though, and running is my passion. But unfortunately, Zumba is going to help to pay for a new (to me) car........I don't get paid to run. Talk about an internal war raging inside me.....pay or passion??????
What would you do?

Friday
I am going out on my lunch hour later to pick up my CSA, pick up a bookkeeping job and pick up a Zumba Tank for one my new students who is going to become licensed to teach Zumba - this will be my second student getting licensed and to me it is very exciting. The love and happiness I feel with Zumba has been transplanted in many of my students (or so they tell me!) and it is two-fold with the two who have decided to up their game and get licensed to teach. The first student who got licensed will begin teaching next week - four times a week! Congrats, Danielle!!
CSA This Friday should include:
1/2 dozen corn
1 dozen eggs (I got four tomatoes instead)
1 butternut squash
1 lb turnips
1 head lettuce
1 bunch of cooking greens
Edited to add that I got a bunch of carrots and a head of broccoli extra (love those extras!)
I will trade in the eggs for something else as usual, as five eggs a day for us can be a little overwhelming. Thank goodness, I have baking to do this weekend for my daughter's school Open House.
Tonight, my daughter has a game. Competition is tomorrow afternoon for my daughter's squad that she helps out with. (younger girls). I will attend to see how they do and support her. Sunday is CCD and then working on the new Zumba routine with Lauren. Another tough playlist - but fun music!
Everyone have a a great weekend - it will be windy (or so they say) here in Southern CT.
PS - Nonni is doing well - walking well with her walker. The prayers are working, so please keep them up!!

Running (in more ways than one)
I ran again this morning - the air quality is disgusting. At 6:45 in the morning, it should not be like this on Sept. 2nd. My glasses fogged up, my breathing was awful and my t-shirt was soaked! Four more days until the big race....Bring on Earl!!!!!
Nonni is doing better. She actually took a couple of steps last night. We will be visiting her tonight, so I'll give a full update once I see her for myself.
New playlist for one Zumba session is finished. We just have to review a couple of songs. New playlist for 2nd zumba session is finished. This one I know. New playlist for third zumba session will be completed this weekend. Two hour jam sessions with Lauren are ongoing. I can't wait!!!
Family dinner was at my house last night. It was wonderful. The nieces and nephews LOVED playing with the chickens! It was a great evening and there were only 22 of us. Nice!!!
Goshen Fair this weekend - my favorite!!
Pear sauce - 4-1/2 pints done!
CSA tomorrow - I'll post that too!

No Zumba
I have the week off from Zumba - both classes.....I need a little break/vacation and I need to learn those new routines.
If I don't post a lot, it's because I'm listening to a lot of music and dancing a lot!!!!!
I hope you all like the new sessions!

Misc.
Next weekend, we are taking off for a weekend to Newport, RI. I really can't wait. I hope the weather continues to stay the way it has all summer....But even if it rains, I'll still be on vacation!!!!
This week has been crazy....Five Zumba classes, Ran three times, Worked all week, did my church job, my attorney job and my condo assoc. job........I'm done!!!
Tonight, I'll go watch Eat, Pray, Love!!! I haven't read the book yet (which I don't like to do), but I'll read the book next weekend! I always prefer to read the book before I see the movie!
This afternoon, I have to get my daughter from cheerleading (the carpooling begins!) and get my CSA. The farm sent out an e-mail of what I will be getting but it always changes a little bit, so I'll let you know. But it looks like this Sunday, I'm making Bean/Kale Soup and Eggplant Parm.
Have a great day and I'm hoping the sun comes out here!

Nice Weekend
After a crazy and hectic festival weekend on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, we were able to relax for most of the day on Sunday. I took Nonni to Church on Saturday afternoon, so after taking care of the hens early Sunday morning, I went and babysit the triplets for a couple of hours. They are too cute and I wish I had a camera......
I then took care of my dad's hens as he was away and went and got Nonni to spend the day. We took her to the beach and she enjoyed sitting under the tent with her feet in the sun. We had supper at Cindy's (Thank you, Cindy!!!!) and then took off for home as I knew I had to do some work.
Lauren and I practiced our new Zumba routine for a couple of hours and I think we are ready for Monday night......
It should be a good time!

Sunday and the rest of the week.
Well, it did not rain either Saturday or Sunday (only 10 minutes on Saturday). The weather has been beautiful, if hot.
Took Nonni to church and then came home and had a little lunch. Went to one party today for only a half hour and then to another party and watched the Soccer World Cup final - very good game!!!
I picked more raspberries, then went to work for about 1-1/2 hours and then worked on Zumba until about 10:30 pm. We have our new set list of songs all picked out - it is going to be a fun, tough work out.....Now we just have to learn the routines for these songs.
Busy week ahead...church festival, work, church, zumba, driving school for Hope!
