No, I haven't been blogging. No, I haven't been doing anything fun. No, I haven't even spent any time with my husband or kids. Hence, the title of this blog post!
These past two weeks have been spent on work - when you are a bookkeeper and you need to work on END of the YEAR stuff, you don't have a choice. And when a new Zumba session is about to start, you have to dance and work. And when a big project is going on at your real job, you need to work. And when everyone is pulling you from every direction, you still have to work........
And when you schedule a vacation for the end of one of your busiest months - You are a FOOL! (that would be me!)
So, this fool is out of the picture for a little while longer, while I finish all these jobs and take a much needed, well deserved, but ill-timed vacation!
I will catch up with all my blog friends and all my posting and my life when I get back and finish out the month!
WHEW!!!!

Sunday
This Sunday, I really had no plans except to stay in the kitchen. I had a lot of stuff to accomplish. I was up at seven taking care of the animals and having my first cup of coffee. I didn't have to take Nonni to church because we went Saturday night and then we went to the church supper which I will blog about later in the week.
Saturday night, after supper, was my prep time. I cut and marinated the beef jerky. Beef jerky is totally new to me, so I'll post about it once I know if it is a success or fail! I also cleaned the counters, got down the crockpot, straightened up the kitchen, brought up the canning jars from the cold cellar and just mentally prepared for Sunday!
First up on Sunday morning, is a little cleaning. Seriously, sometimes, I don't know if I should be embarrassed by my hatred of cleaning or mad at the fact that I have no time to clean. Either way, I never do it until I have to and that either makes me sad or angry. With five people in six little rooms and two bathrooms (and I don't even touch the boys bathroom downstairs), the house is always a disaster. *sigh* Moving on......
After cleaning, crockpot applesauce with the apples I picked, was first on the agenda. I didn't get as many apples as I had hoped, but I did end up with four quarts of applesauce (two batches) and enough apples to eat for the week. My son is going picking again in a few weeks and he will get me more for apple pie filling!
I had a ton of beets from the CSA, so I roasted those and then peeled them and added salt and olive oil and it made a nice little salad.
I still had raspberries in the freezer from my mother in law. I canned fourteen MORE pints AND I still have more raspberries in the freezer! HAH! I think I'm done with raspberry jam and the rest of them that I have, I'll use for different desserts!
I had a recipe from a friend for home made soy sauce. It's not as good as usual, but in a pinch it worked for chicken stir fry for dinner last night.
I was totally out of detergent, so I had to make five gallons of that, too.
My biggest project for Sunday was the chicken coop. Not only was the inside pretty gross, but the outside was never cleaned up from Hurricane Irene. The cleaning took about 1-1/2 hours with five wheelbarrows full of hay and sticks and s%#t! The coop looks and smells wonderful now. Those hens better appreciate it!
FYI - Beef Jerky is good, but too thick. Will do a blog this week about it!

We have heat...sort of!
As I stated in an earlier post this morning, we have no heat in our building today. My wonderful boss went out and bought everyone a mini space heater for our desks! My right hand was numb, even with the glove on, but it is feeling pretty good right now!!! I have a great boss!

Learning to accept change
This is an important week of changes. School, work, life, weather....it all came in one shot. Some of it good, some of it not so good.
We will get through it, we always do. I'm trying to embrace the change and to realize that God has a plan with this change. We just can't see His plan yet.

- The first day of school went off without a hitch for my daughter.
- My son has done all his HR preliminaries for the new job and has received his schedule - which is actually a good one.
- My other son leaves this weekend for Uconn.
- The temperature dropped 20 degrees and the humidity is still gross (especially when you run).
- And cancer just likes to remind us that he is still around.

Back to School/Work Week
My daughter heads back to school on Wednesday and my son heads back to college this weekend. AND my oldest son just got a job. Life is good!!!!!! (From a mom's perspective!)
My oldest got a job in his field in psychology. It isn't a police officer job, but it can be a stepping stone. He will be working with 5-13 year old boys in an alternative school. The job is a 45 minute drive, but not so bad. He has to go to HR this week and get all his paperwork done and then he will start in two weeks. I'm very excited for him. I think he is excited too, but kids that age, don't tell you that!

Sunday and the rest of the week.
Well, it did not rain either Saturday or Sunday (only 10 minutes on Saturday). The weather has been beautiful, if hot.
Took Nonni to church and then came home and had a little lunch. Went to one party today for only a half hour and then to another party and watched the Soccer World Cup final - very good game!!!
I picked more raspberries, then went to work for about 1-1/2 hours and then worked on Zumba until about 10:30 pm. We have our new set list of songs all picked out - it is going to be a fun, tough work out.....Now we just have to learn the routines for these songs.
Busy week ahead...church festival, work, church, zumba, driving school for Hope!

Zumba Certification
I am now officially certified. Lauren and I took the train in to NYC on Saturday morning (5:57 - that was early!). We spent the whole day at a Zumba seminar and workshop with a wonderful teacher (Tanya) and not only got great workouts all day, but learned so much information and got certified to teach.
Lauren and I plan to start our first class mid-March. We need to get through the holidays, before we can come up with our routine and songs.
We are both very tired after yesterday, but very happy, it is complete!!!!

This Week
I hate when it is already Friday and I haven't been able to post all week. This time of year is so busy....
Monday night - Zumba and then work at the church until almost ten.
Tuesday night - Started my Christmas Cards, got the boys tree done in the cellar (They have a special room with a special tree).
Wednesday night - We took the train to NYC to watch Uconn play at the Garden. Great game! Uconn lost though. The game started really late and we were hard pressed to get home because we all had school and work the next day....needless to say, I didn't get to bed until 1:30 in the morning or so.
Thursday night - Worked for one lawyer, then I did my work for the condo association and the woman that I do checks for, then finished my cards and then grocery shopped and then......I made my first batch of homemade laundry detergent. I had to let it set overnight, so I'll let you all know how it came out....Very exciting.
Needless to say, I was exhausted and headed to bed about 10:45.
My husband stayed up to watch the Steelers....lose, again....
Big weekend coming up.....I'll post more on my Zumba certification once I get it..

Busy...
I haven't been able to post too much this week....Last weekend just tuckered me out.
Worked all week, ran two days, did Zumba two days, worked only one side job (Praise the Lord). Waiting for another two side jobs to e-mail me with their work.
Tomorrow, I'll be picking up my next CSA in the morning and then heading to the Meadowlands in NJ for my nephew's state high school championship. On an even more ironic note, my daughter's team is playing tomorrow for the CT state high school football championship. But she has opted to go to NJ instead. We have a coach bus taking a very large group, so I'll be sure to post pictures over the weekend.

Layoff Survivor Sickness
We had layoffs here at work last week. Because it is such a small company, everyone took it hard...especially me.
I just spent an hour filling out DOL paperwork and there is still more to come. I read about Layoff Survivor Sickness - where the people who don't get laid off feel as bad as the people who did get laid off. I feel like I have it...sad, sleepless, anxious, etc....
I'm doing what the article tells me to do to get over these feelings, but it is still hard and I know "this too shall pass". I know this too well. But it doesn't make it any easier today.
