Looking again

I was told two days ago that the person who had my job before me, was going to come back.  So I am looking for another job again.  I have a month or so, so I will have to get my butt in gear.  I will be starting today!

I love the job, but this just means there is something else out there for me.

Other than that, I have no complaints!

And my daughter is coming home this weekend for five days, so life is good!

Afghan

Two years ago, my sister gave me a ton of yarn.  I did make one afghan with it!

But she also gave me a bunch of granny squares - some were already sewn together and some were just singular.  I put them together in a "sort of" pattern and then put a border on them.

It came out pretty good!  It didn't cost me a dime and it only took about six hours of my time last weekend!

Here is a picture of it folded up in quarters.  It will cover a twin or full bed.  I think I will give it to my son if he decides to buy a house.

Bunco

After the chocolate party, this weekend, we (my card friends and a few others) played Bunco!

I had heard of it before, but I never played it and didn't even know what was involved in it.

But I loved it!

We played with eight people (you have to play in increments of four) and there was only two people who had ever played before, so there were a lot of newbies!  I didn't win anything, but I really enjoyed it.  It is somewhat similar to Yahtzee, but not really!  LOL!  You play for ones and twos and threes, etc.  You constantly switch tables (which I loved because you are not just sitting on your bums all night!), you yell Bunco and you throw (pass around) a holder of money - our holder was a stuffed dog!  There is little bunco and big bunco and bell ringing and a head table and I just can't explain it all - You HAVE to be there!

So I plan on having a bunco party of my own soon.  I don't think I can run it alone, so I'll have to have help, but I definitely want everyone to learn it!

I understand some Bunco parties have themes!  This one that I attended did not have a theme as it was a beginner lesson, but I think a theme is a good idea!

Lent

I hope your Lenten journey makes you think, pray, reconcile and learn.

In this crazy world, sometimes, I think the only constant is Lent each year, where we can be a little introspective and let our religious thoughts lead us down the correct path!

If you haven't been to church in a while, go.  If you haven't prayed in a while, pray.  If you haven't done something nice for someone in a while, do a random act of kindness.  If you haven't practiced your faith in a while (no matter what your faith is), practice.

God Bless!

Chocolate Party

I have now been to two DOVE Chocolate Discovery Parties.  If you are a chocoholic like me - you will love these parties.  Every product contains chocolate or cocoa and some of the products  you wouldn't believe.  Chocolate rubs for meat, cocoa BBQ sauce, of course, chocolate covered cherries, blueberries and cranberries!

At this party, I purchased chocolate martini mix (I had tried it previously and it is delicious!) and truffle hot cocoa!   We sampled cocoa salsa (excellent), chocolate mousse, chocolate monkey bread (to die for!) chocolate covered and cinnamon dusted almonds and one more thing that I can't remember!!

I can't wait to try the monkey bread for myself because if you have never had it before, it is delicious for both a dessert and/or breakfast!

Mobile Weather Lab

We had Career Day at the school that I work at and we had the local television station's Mobile Weather Lab!

It was really interesting!   The kids all loved to see it and they were actually on television that night!

Very exciting!

Birthday

My niece and goddaughter Gianna turned 17 last week!  We had a party for her at my mom's!  We seem to have a birthday every week.  It was also my hubby's birthday last week, but he doesn't like to be reminded!

But the Happiest of Birthdays to both Thomas and Gianna!  Love you both!!

Another bust of a storm

We only got two-three inches in this newest storm.  I am NOT complaining, but I really wish when they say 5 to 7 inches, they mean it.  I guess every storm is hitting the eastern part of the state, so we are  spared the worst of it.

The wind is whipping though and we are prepared in case we lose power.  I will be able to go to church and the store at least today!  So that is the good news.

Please be careful out there, campers!!

FAFSA

Some of you may not even know what FAFSA is, but it is done and DONE for the LAST time!!

Praise the Lord!  What a royal pain in the butt!

That means my taxes are done and despite the fact that I was laid off last year and hubby was out of work with his shoulder, we are getting money back???  I don't get it!  We work like dogs other years and end up paying more.....I hate taxes!

Snow storm #2

We had another storm today and the final total was about 11 inches.  No school today and we just got a text (10:00 pm) that there is no school tomorrow.

I think I will go in for a couple of hours and get a few things done, but I feel bad for the parents who need to go to work.

I hope the storm doesn't keep you from where you need to be!

Happy Groundhog Day

We are getting six more weeks of winter!

And I am watching Groundhog Day on TV - (Babe, I got you Babe, I got you Babe) Ok campers, rise and shine!!  It is cold outside!

Just some photos from our trip to see Punxsutawney Phil two years ago!

FYI  - Gobblers Knob is nothing like they show in the movie!!  It is massive!  Acres and acres of hillside facing Phil!

Snow

Last week's blizzard only brought 10 inches of snow, but lots of cold air and plenty of wind.  The cold and wind continued throughout the week.  It has been bitter!

I just got a text a little while ago that school is cancelled again for tomorrow.  We are expecting 8-12 more inches of snow overnight tonight.....I am not happy, but it is CT in winter.  It is to be expected, I guess.

I will let you know how much we actually get.......
