Horoscope

I never read my horoscope.  I never believed in them, even though my dad read his faithfully every day and sometimes, lived by it!?

This was on yesterday's Yahoo home page for me:

Virgo

8/23-9/22
You need to use some of your terrific energy on small-scale problems like housecleaning or bookkeeping. It's just one of those days when you feel the need to take care of the world around you.

Since I left work  a little early yesterday, because of the snow, I decided to do some housecleaning!  I have been doing bookkeeping up the wazoo lately and needed a change of pace.  And believe me, I would have NEVER done housecleaning if I didn't read it on Yahoo!  But it felt right!

Here's to horoscopes - thinking of you dad!!!  :)

Pork Time

I just ordered half of a pig.  I guess I called at the right time, because Stacia (Farmer) told me they are bringing pigs to slaughter tomorrow morning and they have an extra half - and it is now mine!

It will be ready (smoked) in about two weeks, so I'll let you know what I get!

So excited!!!

Uconn v. Louisville

I am not a huge basketball fan, but both my sons graduated from Uconn and I had the opportunity to go to a men's basketball game last night.  It was a 9:00 pm (way past my bedtime), but we had a great time.  I went to the Co-op first and got myself a new sweatshirt - I haven't had a Uconn sweatshirt in a while!  Then, when we walked into Gampel Pavilion, all the seats had a free shirt on them!

Mr. Kevin Ollie, the coach (see above "Olliewood" on the free t-shirt), got thrown out of the game last night....interesting to say the least!

Thank you, Barb and Kenny, for a great night in Storrs.  It was a lot of fun!   I hope to go again!

I want this!

I take great care in using my eggs in the order they are received, First in, First out method.  The carton on the door holds the older eggs (to be used first), and the carton on the second shelf holds the newest eggs.  This way, every egg is always fresh!!

However, if hubby gets the eggs, sometimes, he just puts them in any carton. Or sometimes, I'm busy and I'll forget and I put both egg cartons on the same shelf and then forget which is which!??

But this is just brilliant!!!

It is called an egg skelter and it holds two dozen eggs and you always will know which ones to use!!

I love it......And I have an amazon gift card from Christmas.......so excited!   Now to pick a color!

Have a beautiful day!!

We have a date!

Yesterday, January 12th, we met with the owners of the venue that my son and his fiancĂ© want to use for their wedding.  After much discussion, they have chosen a date:  Friday, NOVEMBER 6, 2015!  Everyone is excited to finally have the date and the planning can commence!

And you all know I am a firm believer in signs........last nights Play 3 Lottery number (which we never play) was 116!!  It's all good.....  :)

Sochi - February 7th

Four weeks from today are the Opening Ceremonies.......

I LOVE the Olympics, Winter or Summer!  As a kid, we always watched them!  Who doesn't remember Jim McKay - Best Sports Television personality, ever!   I miss him....he had such passion!  As an adult, my love for the Olympics grew.  I watch as much as I possibly can and tape the rest!!

February 7th - Mark your calendars!

Goings on.....

Lots of things happening in my little corner of the world, but I think the worse thing is this frigid cold.  I'm not going to complain too much - yesterday it was 50 degrees...today, we will have a high of 14 (if we are lucky).  The torrential rain yesterday took away most of the snow, but everything is frozen again.  I will have to come home on my lunch hour to thaw out the chickens water and give them some fresh.  They will be coming into the house again tonight in their box.

My daughter's flight  back down to NC was over two hours delayed yesterday, but compared to others around the country who ended up being stuck in airports for days, I think she is lucky she got back to NC at all.  She starts classes tomorrow, already!  We had a nice Sunday dinner for her before she left!

Hubby and son are working a lot of overtime jobs on their respective police forces due to the cold, weather, fires and accidents that just keep happening around here.

As of this week, I am back teaching three Zumba classes a week!

As I said last week, one of my new year's resolutions is to update my blog!  So, I am going to try daily to do so!

Stay warm, my friends!

New Year's Eve

We had a wedding to attend on New Year's Eve.  What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year!

My husband's first cousin got married to a great guy!  His whole family attended and my whole family was invited, so we spent the New Year's together for the first time in a long time!

Here they are getting married - My iphone does NOT take the best pictures, so I apologize!!
Here are Tom's brother and his two children!  There were lots of family photos, but I will wait for the real photographer's photos and just buy them.  I can't do any of the the pictures justice.....
My mother in law took a beautiful photo with her 11 grandchildren on these stairs, and I can't wait to see it!

Cookie Swap

As always, every year, I have a wonderful cookie swap with my friends. This year, it was held at Theresa's house and she outdid herself with a beautiful spread of food and of course, we all made the desserts!  Lots and lots of cookies. (Yes, I know I am about three weeks behind on posting this)

Here is a shot with all of us!   I can't ask for better friends than these!   And I am so fortunate that after 24 years, we still get together and have fun and love and respect each other!

The only one missing is Eva and we always miss you, but Carolyn filled in for you!  I love my ladies!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and baby, it is cold out there!

It has been a while since I have been blogging!

I know I keep saying that, so I'm going to try to be better at it in 2014!! (Resolution #1)

First of all, I wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

We had some great holidays this year with lots of gatherings and a wedding on New Years Eve!

January is going to be extremely busy for me with all my businesses getting out 1099's and finishing up the end of the year!  But as always, I will get it done!   (Resolution #2)

Let me start by showing you how cold it is hear in CT -

The big box on my kitchen floor contains my four hens!!

This is the first time this winter that I had to take the hens into the kitchen.  It is also (I think), the first time they laid an egg in the house! It was in the single digits last night with about 5 inches of snow and tonight it will be below zero again, so they will be back in the kitchen tonight.  They seemed content all night and the dog didn't bother them.  This morning I was up in the dark, shoveling the coop and getting it ready and they went out into the snow with no issues.  The water freezes within a couple of hours, so I try to change it often!   But I'm still getting four eggs a day as of now!
