Happy place

I am in my happy place (one of them) in Disney.

This morning, we did Toy Story Mania three times.

Life is good! The parks are not crowded.  Wait times aren't bad at all.  And the hotel is wonderful!

CSA - Week 15 (already!) and vacation

Full Share:8 ears of corn
2 lbs. of tomatoes
1 pint of grape tomatoes
2 large eggplant
2 lbs. of cucumbers
1 lb. of squash or zucchini
1/2 lb. of hot peppers
2 lbs. of potatoes
1 lb. of leeks
1 lb. of beets
1 lb. of beans or broccoli
1 bunch of kale

I am giving my sister the 8 ears of corn and the tomatoes.  The rest of the stuff, I am going to blanch and freeze (except for the potatoes - those will keep).

I leave for a two week vacation (I have been planning it for a year) and I won't be getting next week's CSA!

I'll try to post a few different blogs from my phone!  It will be my first attempt at blogging from a phone, so I don't know if I can do it!

The Pear Tree

I was able to can five quarts of pear sauce last week.  Last night, I was able to can two more quarts and there are still pears on the tree!   We gave away tons of them because I just don't have the time to process them all.

My friend Kathy made six pints of countryside pear jelly.  My neighbor was going to make pear sauce and my other neighbor just wanted them to eat!  They are really delicious and I'm told they could be seckel pears?  This photo is not mine, but this is what they look like and they are a smaller variety.

My brother wants some to try to make a pear wine!   I hope he has the opportunity soon.  They pears will all be off the tree within another week!

CSA - Week 14

Here is what we are getting this week:

Full Share:
8 ears of corn
2 lbs. of zucchini and/or yellow squash
2 large eggplant
2 large sweet peppers
1 lb. of cucumbers
4 lbs. of tomatoes
1 lb. broccoli
1/2 lb. of green or yellow beans
2 bunches of kale
It is another banner week for the Stone Gardens Farm!!!!
My sister and I will split this one.  Last week, I got the whole CSA box and I still have some of the tomatoes, but I made a wonderful minestrone with most of the other vegetables!  We had the corn at our family night dinner.  I'm not sure what I'll get from this box, but I think I see more eggplant in my future.  I made eggplant burritos this past week, which were surprisingly, excellent!

And another one bites the dust.....

I guess that is the way it works sometimes.....Things are flowing nicely, life is good and then bang! No Air conditioning!!  And then Bang!  No refrigerator!

Although the A/C is not always a necessity, the refrigerator is!  The service man says it is the compressor and it would be cheaper to buy a brand new one than to get this old one fixed!  So........off to the appliance store!  We have looked at so many models that my head is spinning.

I really wanted the French door style, but because of the height of the cabinet, I can't get it!  I can get a very small french door style, but it would not look good in that space, so I have to get another side by side!  And hubby has to have the water and ice in the door (it is the only thing he asked for)!

We really thought the stove and microwave would go first as those are the oldest appliances, so we had been savings for the stove/microwave expense......

They say it comes in threes.......I'm hoping it doesn't!
