I have this week off because the schools are not in session for April break. I have opted to do my spring cleansing!! It has been a long while and it is increasingly difficult for me to keep up with things working all the time. So, I have this week to cleanse and it is working out great (at least for this first day). I feel like I have accomplished a lot! I really want to get out into the yard to rake and clean out there, but I have this whole week so I should be able to get everything accomplished.
I finally took off the plastic on all the windows, because we have finally shut off the heat! What a ridiculous, awful winter it was.
The fresh air feels great!

Upstate NY
We had the opportunity to visit my friend Eva and her hubby in Upstate NY this past weekend. We had a wonderful time. My hubby and I and our friend John (who happens to be Eva's first cousin), enjoyed friendship, dinners, drinks and lots of laughs. Hubby won at the casino, so that was also very good.
I didn't take any pictures though!!??
If Eva sends me any, I will post them!

I passed the test
Fyi - I passed the NRA test for basic pistol safety and I got to shoot a gun. It didn't kick quite as hard as I thought it would. I shot two pistols (not my own). I am in the application process now to get a pistol permit. It takes a lot of time (especially here in CT). First you have to get a 60 Day Temporary State Pistol permit. I have to be fingerprinted and pay a fee for a criminal history background check. I have already taken the course, so I have that completed. Then I have to pay our local police dept. Then I have to show proof of eligibility (a passport). Once I get the temporary permit, I have to do a state permit. That costs more money!! But it will be worth it.
Here are my two targets the first time I shot. I did okay.
Two bullets hit the black target in this one, the other four were around it.
One bullet hit the target with this gun, which was heavier, but I managed to get all five shots within the circle.
Hubby is taking me to our local Rod and Gun club to practice. I will let you know how that goes.

Interviews and life
Since I started looking for a job (about three weeks ago), I have had one phone interview and two face to face interviews. I am lucky that I am still getting the interviews, but nothing has come from them yet. I wait and hope.
This is my last full week of work. The following week the school is on vacation so I am planning on long postponed doctor visits, car maintenance visits, and spring cleaning.
The week after that, we will be away for a little while and I am looking forward to a little R & R.
Then I need to get serious with the job hunt!!!

COFFEE
For those of you who know me, you know I love my coffee.
My coffee maker was old and well used and the coffee coming out of it just was horrible. I tried to clean it out with vinegar and nothing seemed to work, so I got rid of it.
Down in the basement, I had this old corning ware coffee pot - it is old. I have no idea where it came from? I think I bought it at a tag sale one time so that I could use it when we used to camp, right on the campfire grate!
Anyway, it makes a nice hot pot of coffee. It does take longer than usual, but isn't something worth while, worth the wait?
Cheers, as I drink my third cup!

Easter Season
Lent is almost over and Easter is upon us.
It is the holiest of days.
We attended Holy Thursday Mass last night. It was done well with the washing of the feet and a short procession. However, nothing beats St. Mary's Mass on Holy Thursday. If you have never been there before, I invite you to attend. The children's procession is beautiful!
Today is Good Friday - I bake in the morning and go to church at 3:00 pm. A ritual that I have done for decades. I planned on running a race after church, but I haven't been able to run at all this spring due to weather and life, so I will try to run again next year.
Tomorrow is Holy Saturday. Both of my grandparents died on Holy Saturday, so it is a day spent at work, then visiting old friends and then visiting the cemetery. I will also attend the Easter Vigil Mass at 8:00 pm.
God Bless!

Another Honor
My brother and his wife were recently honored by St. Mary-St. Michael School here in town for their Christian Compassion. They were very deserving of the honor as they do so, so much for the school, the church and the community. My whole family came to congratulate them. there were other honorees also and the committee had to get a bigger room as so many people wanted to come to celebrate these honorees!
My brothers and sisters and myself and my sister in law who won the award.
The family that represented without my hubby and my sisters hubby (for some unknown reason)

Italian National Honor Society
My Goddaughter, Gianna was recently inducted into the Italian National Honor Society. They combined it with the Spanish National Honor Society inductees and had a beautiful ceremony. One of her teachers is my old babysitter for my children from years ago! It was great to see her!
