Canning Pears

After picking all the pears from my tree, which was not a good haul this year, I ended up with four quarts of pear pie filling.  I used the recipe from here.

I hope to make a pear-raspberry pie this week.....

There's something so satisfying about a batch of beautiful canned fruit on the counter!! I never thought of pear pie filling ... I have always made jam with mine.

(edited to add: I'm now on my fifth attempt, trying to decypher your word verification ... it's frustrating, and unnecessary since Google does a great job of catching and dispensing with spam comments. Consider turning it off, at least on a trial basis, so we can read and enjoy and comment a lot easier.)

(sixth try now)

That sounds really good. My parents used to have a pear tree. It was taken down because it was getting old. I loved getting pears though.

We have a pear tree but it doesn't produce -- your jars look so pretty. :)

Just a quick note to let you know that starting tomorrow, I will begin hosting a new photo meme on my blog. Please come join me at "Orange You Glad It's Friday", and post a photo displaying a little or a lot of orange, my favorite color! Hope to see you there!

My uncle is retired from UConn; your pears look wonderful and will taste great when snow balls fly.
